I created Michael in black and white out of the desire to create contrast between different expressions in faces that are at rest. Micheal is a visionary who is able to eliminate distractions and focus on what is true.
In my black and white collection, I decided to set aside the color spectrum and focus on the visual power that black and white can create. Doing these pieces in black and white allows my viewers to focus on the beauty and emotions of each face. This was a very freeing experience for me as I did not have to focus on mixing colors but more on forms and create drama as I played with extreme lights and darks. The differences in each face show that beauty comes in many different shapes and forms.
